Dr. Michelle Wischmeyer practices traditional and Japanese acupuncture. Acupuncture is a form of Chinese medicine that has been practiced for centuries. This therapy is based on the theory that energy, called Qi flows through and around your body along pathways called meridians. Acupuncturists posit that illness occurs when something blocks or imbalances your Qi. Acupuncture is performed by putting very thin needles into your skin at certain points on your body to unblock or influence Qi and help it flow back into balance. Some key benefits of Acupuncture are that it improves health and quality of life, reduces stress, relieves pain, faster recovery from injury, illness and surgery, emotional balance, relieves insomnia, strengthens your immune system, relief from premenstrual (PMS) and menopausal symptoms.

ACUPRESSURE TREATMENT

This treatment may help relieve a variety of symptoms and conditions, from pain in the lower back to congestion caused by allergies. Acupressure treatment may also include stretching and massage.
ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT
Japanese Acupuncture employs very gentle needle techniques and is especially suited to the treatment of the very young, weak or sensitive patient. Japanese needles tend to be a smaller gauge and are extremely gentle. Insertion is very superficial. Traditional Japanese acupuncture is particularly suited to those who are uncomfortable with strong needle stimulus or are fatigued or otherwise weakened. Japanese Acupuncture assist in helping a range of complaints, including aggravated stress (fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, depression), localized pain (headache, knee pain, back pain), gastric problems (nausea, acid reflux, gastritis), trauma (sprains, strains, bruises) and even infertility.
COSMETIC FACIAL ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT
Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture uses fine needles on the face with the goal of reducing wrinkles and contributing to a youthful appearance. While Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture has been practiced for centuries in China, it has more recently become popular in the West as an alternative to cosmetic surgery. People choose Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture over other facial rejuvenation techniques because it does not involve any foreign chemicals, such as the botulin toxin used in Botox, or the solution used in a chemical peel, and it is less invasive than plastic surgery. Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture also carries less risk than other procedures. It is meant to work by stimulating the production of collagen under the facial skin, filling out wrinkles and plumping the skin. It gives the skin a brighter appearance and improved texture, and even to brighten the eyes. Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture is also said to promote general health and well being beyond the appearance of the face. Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture cannot produce drastic cosmetic changes such as those seen with a chemical peel, because the procedure itself is not as drastic.

An alternative medicine based on the idea that the ear is a microsystem, which reflects the entire body. Physical, mental and emotional conditions are treatable by stimulating the surface of the ear thereby reducing cravings, anxiety, sleep disturbances and the need for pharmaceuticals. Many other conditions are treatable such as pain, allergies, hypertension, etc.
CUPPING TREATMENT
Cupping balances the positive and negative influences in your body by drawing out tension, stress, and toxins. Cupping draws blood to the surface of the skin, which is thought to reduce stagnation in the blood. Cupping is especially useful in treating muscle or arthritis pains, colds and lung ailments. It can also help treat hypertension, indigestion, and various other health issues. Chinese herbal oil is used allowing the cup to slide thereby creating a massage like technique. Cupping may cause temporary skin discoloration that appears like a bruise.
